We sat in silence. Four women connected by one man's lies.

"What do we do now?" I finally asked.

Nobody had an answer.

The lawyer's office was worse.

Dad left everything split equally. Two houses. Two life insurance policies. Two college funds — both empty now, used for me and Emma. His will acknowledged both families, both wives, both daughters.

"This is fraud," my mother said. "Bigamy. We could contest this."
