"There's a problem," she replied.
"What problem?"
She didn't respond for three days.
When she finally called, her voice was shaking.
"I slept with him."
The world stopped.
"What?"
"It wasn't supposed to happen. I went to end things, like you asked. We got drinks. I had too much wine. He was upset about something — work stress, I think. We were talking and then... I don't know. It just happened."
