"You look like you've seen a ghost," Mira said, sitting beside me.
"Something like that."
"I come here every month. We were close, Nina and I. Losing her was like losing half of myself."
I couldn't speak. I was staring at Nina's face on another woman, hearing Nina's voice with a slightly different cadence.
"She talked about you a lot," Mira continued. "Said you were the love of her life. That she'd never met anyone who made her feel so seen."
"She was everything to me."
"I know. I watched you at the funeral. I've never seen someone break so completely."
We sat in silence. The wind rustled the trees.
