Nina was quiet for a long time.
"Would you have stayed? If I hadn't come?"
I thought about it. Really thought.
"I don't know that either."
She nodded slowly.
"Then I guess we both have things to figure out."
That was a week ago.
We're still together. Technically. We sleep in the same bed but don't touch. We eat dinner but don't talk. The device sits in her lab, powered down, waiting for the next test.
