He walked faster. The woman looked confused, clutching the stroller. The little girl turned around with curious eyes.
"James, stop! I know it's you!"
He didn't stop. He grabbed the woman's arm and pulled her into a store. By the time I reached the door, they had disappeared into a back exit.
I stood there shaking, people staring at me like I was insane.
Maybe I was.
I called Ryan from my hotel room.
"Hey babe, how's Denver?"
"Fine," I lied. "Meeting went well."
